    A rake receiver circuit determines the received signal strength of a number of receiver fingers and disables fingers having a signal strength below a threshold. The fingers may be disabled by suspending operation of the clock signal supplied to them. The fingers may be disabled for a predetermined period of time to reduce the power consumption.
